    Hello,
I spent most of my career firing with a manual kiln, and I am struggling to adjust to the V6-CF series 700 controller.
I had a bisque firing to do of larger hand-built forms. With my manual kiln I used to turn on the bottom element over night to finish any unsuspected drying and begin the heat build-up. Usually, even with the peeps open the kiln would be ready to close up and fire by daybreak. I wanted to duplicate that, but I am not sure is a preheat is equal to the manual version.
I wanted to bisque to cone 05, and have the preheat move automatically into the firing whether I was up yet or not.
    This is what I entered:
peeps open, lid cracked, fan on.
    press slow bisque
    enter
    05
    enter
(i pressed 5 for 5-minute hold only because I didn’t know how to get no-hold. From reading, now I think I could have ignored that prompt for a hold)
    enter
pressed the menu twice to preheat PRHT
    enter
    press 900 for 9 hours
    enter
    start
In teh night I checked the kiln at 4am. The temp was 530degrees. I closed the lid.
I slept in to 9, and when I checked the kiln teh ontroller was flashing between 1.14 and 200degrees. Then 1.3 and 199degrees, 1.10 ans 192degrees.
It looked as if it stopped after teh preheat and was cooling down. I am not sure, but it did not say COMPLT.
So, I stopped the program and set it for a fast bisque:
    press fast bisque
    enter
    05
    enter
    enter
    start Also closed the peeps.

    1. It is almost finsihed firing now, but to avoid this in future, I need to know what I did wrong in programming the preheat so it woud go right to the cone 05 firing after 9 hours preheat.
    2. Also, Might I add a delay next time so I do a 5 or 6 hour preheat instead of 9?
    3. You may have another suggestion too, since i am obviously still thinking like a manual kiln operator!
    Thank you very much,
    Karen
